Office 2021 is the version that will replace Office 2019. Office 2021 represents the standalone version of the suite of apps (also known as the “on-premises” or “perpetual” version) that allows you to install Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook without a Microsoft 365 subscription. Although once you purchase this product, you can use it for around five years with maintenance and security updates, and forever without updates, you cannot upgrade to the next version....

Windows 10 is also getting four security updates, which are rated as Critical. “Windows Technical Preview and Windows Server Technical Preview are affected. Customers running these operating systems are encouraged to apply the update, which is available via Windows Update.” Microsoft notes. November Patch Tuesday is rolling out now, they will install automatically, but you always can try getting the manually via Windows Update in Control Panel and going to the PC settings....

Then there the FancyZones feature, which is a windows manager designed specifically for multitaskers. Using this feature, it’s possible to create custom zones on the screen, and then simply drag and drop the app to automatically resize it. Although, you can always use the snap feature on Windows 10, FanacyZones brings more customization allowing you to snap windows just the way you like it. (This is a work in progress, as such it’s not fully functional....

After getting the update, one of the first changes you’ll notice is the addition of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote to the main menu while using SkyDrive — Now you have access to all the Office Web Apps from one location. As an additional touch, Microsoft is changing the way elements look on the web apps, using a slightly different color-coded bar providing easy access to the navigation header, and of course with the “Share” button on the top-far right to initiate real-time collaboration....

It’s called “Xbox One S” and according to a screenshot from a Microsoft site, it’s 40 percent smaller than the current console. It features a 2TB internal hard drive, 4K Ultra HD video playback support, high dynamic range (HDR), and a new streamlined white controller. The Xbox One S is a white console with a black base, and perhaps one of the most interesting cosmetic feature is the additional black base to stand the new slim console vertically, meaning that the console won’t have to sit horizontally anymore....

The listing shows that both smartphones will be offered unlocked. In addition, we can now confirm that the Lumia 950 indeed is a 5.2-inch phone with 20-megapixel camera, and 32GB of internal storage with a microSD slot with support up to 2TB of additional storage. Then the Lumia 950 XL listing shows that the phone is a 5.7-inch device with the same camera and storage found in the 950 version....

Now the company is clarifying that the offer is not ending for everyone. On a new article at the Microsoft Accessibility Blog, Daniel Hubbell published a statement saying that Windows 10 will continue to free for users who use assistive technologies in their computers. However, the company still has to share more details on how users using assistive technologies in their computers will be able to take advantage of the free offer after July 29th, and what steps will be put in place to make sure that non-qualifying users don’t abuse the system....

This is a significant effort from Microsoft, as the deal will further increase the company’s software and services usage on the mobile space, which is an area where Windows has struggled for years to be relevant. We previously heard that the company was working with Samsung to increase the storage capacity in the newly announced Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge by giving away 100GB of OneDrive storage to users, now that we know that the new Samsung handset will not include an SD card slot to expand the storage space....

The Nokia N1 mimics the Apple’s iPad mini design almost on every way. Like the Apple’s tablet, the N1 features a 7.9-inch screen with 2048 x 1536 resolution and the unibody aluminum design with the same color scheme. If not because of the back-facing camera placement and the Nokia name in the back of the device, you could easily think this is an iPad mini. Even the buttons, headphone jack and the speaker grills are located in the same place....

In April’s Patch Tuesday, which users will be able to download starting 1PM E.T., Microsoft plans to release 9 updates, 7 of them are marked as important, while the remaining 2 are marked as critical, patching at total of 14 vulnerabilities. One of the scheduled critical update (MS13-028) is target to address two issues in IE6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 in Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and RT, which could allow remote code execution if a user lands on a specially crafted web page....

Microsoft isn’t trying to get you use Internet Explorer on every device either, though they might have already thought about it, rather it’s a new service that will make it a lot easier for developers to create products that work on IE and test them regardless the platform they are using. This new service not only works with the latest Technical Preview of Windows 10, but developers running Windows 7 will also be able to test their web designs using RemoteIE without having to install a new operating system or create a virtual machine....

Although the Xbox Live network is very reliable, every now and then, you’ll experience the error 0x87DD0019, typically during Thanksgivings, Christmas, New Year, and other major holidays, and when you see this error, you’re likely not to be the only one. When error 0x87DD0019 occurs, it means that there are also thousands of other people unable to sign in or play games because of service disruption because of a problem with Microsoft servers....

However today Microsoft is only making available the Surface Pro 3 with Intel’s Core i5 processor. The Intel’s Core i3 and i7 versions will become available for purchase on August 1. Also the new Docking Station didn’t go on sale, Microsoft will make it available for purchase on August 15. Of course, the 28-inch 4.5K display is the start of the show here, but another interesting component is the ARM 32-bit Cortex M7 processor found behind the screen. There is no information about Microsoft decision to include an ARM chip on an Intel-powered device, but it appears that the processor’s purpose is to help drive the display. iFixit also tore the Surface Studio base, which looks very much like an Apple TV or iMac Mini, and it includes all the computer guts....

Continuing with Xbox news, this week the software giant and 343 Industries revealed that “Halo 5: Guardians” will be available in 2015 and it’ll be exclusively for Xbox One. New rumor suggest that Microsoft is working on a subscription-based operating system called “Windows 365”, which by the name we can assume it will similar to what Office 365 currently offer. On May 20th, Microsoft plans to launch a new line of Surface including Surface mini and a very possible Surface Pro 3....

In October Patch Tuesday, Microsoft released new updates for several of its products fixing 24 vulnerabilities in Windows, Internet Explorer, and Office. The Surface family also received a new firmware update, though Surface Pro 3 will get the update in a few weeks.
