Indeed this is an exciting time because we will finally see what the company has been working on these past years, and we will actually know which rumors and leaks we’ve been hearing for months are true. And it is also Microsoft’s turn to prove us that the new Xbox is an amazing piece of hardware that will arrive to refuel the game industry once again. According to Thurrott, internal documents reveal some of the Microsoft plans regarding the future of Surface. According to the report, the Surface Pro 6 is currently known as Carmel, the recently reported low-cost tablet carries the Libra name, and the company is still planning to deliver the Andromeda device. In addition, the report claims that the next version of Surface Pro (Carmel) is in development, but the internal documents don’t specify a release date....

The price for a Surface 3 starts at $499, but that is just the beginning, as the price will go up if you choose from different storage configurations. In addition, you will need the Type Cover and Surface Pen to make the device fully functional. These accessories aren’t included, and they are not cheap. A Type Cover will add an extra $130 to the cost and the Surface Pen an additional $50....

We’ve been talking about Spartan for a few months now, but today, Neowin reposts a bit of more information about how Microsoft plans to integrate extensions into the browser and how it plans to lure developers to write for the platform. According to the report, Spartan will implement extensions almost identically to Chrome, which technically means that Chrome extensions could work on Spartan, or at least it will make the process very simple to build extensions for Spartan, if the developer knows how to code for Chrome....

The software giant will continue to ship Windows 7 to OEMs (which are the companies who preinstall the operating system on new PCs), but this will also end on October 30, 2014, which now is less than a year away. “When the retail software product reaches its end of sales date, it can still be purchased through OEMs (the company that made your PC) until it reaches the end of sales date for PC with Windows preinstalled,” — The company states....

Furthermore, purchases (free or paid) that you may have had in the past will be removed from your computer in July 2019. However, the software giant will provide refunds for books that you have purchased or preorder. Microsoft also published a support article detailing that refunds will start rolling out automatically in July 2019 to the original payment method used to make the purchase. And computer manufacturers are quickly adopting Windows Hello by integrating infrared cameras and fingerprint readers into their new Windows 10 devices. However, there are millions of older PCs that have been upgraded to Windows 10 that unfortunately can take advantage of Windows Hello, because they haven’t been originally equipped with the require hardware. Thankfully, Microsoft has already announced that it’s opening the framework for third-parties to start building their own biometric accessories....

Although Sticky Notes has been around for years, this new version preserves many of the visuals, but the most interesting additions are the ability to sync your notes across devices, and the new organizer with a search functionality to find your notes. The sync functionality works using a Microsoft account that no only makes possible to roam your notes to other devices using the same account, but it also keeps a backup of your notes in the cloud, and eventually, they will sync to your Android and iOS devices too (feature no yet available)....

The second generation of Surface Book looks similar to the original design, but there are a lot of improvements. According to the company’s documentation, Surface devices usually have four years of firmware and driver support from the date it was initially released (not from the date you purchased the device). The new search is a filter feature that appears at the top (similar to the search box in the Microsoft Store app) that allows you to find processes quickly by binary name, PID, or publisher name. The filter algorithm matches the context keyword with all possible matches and displays them on the current page. The filter is also applied as you switch between pages.
